    I recently went to the best back-to-school concert I’ve ever been to. It had everything: two acclaimed, diverse acts that together appealed to a wide range of students; an open-air venue with great seats for everybody; and even free commemorative T-shirts! The performers were on time and the sets went off without a hitch.

    Time to sell back your textbooks and head down to the record store (or the iTunes store, if that’s more your style) to pick up a nice stack of albums to last you through the summer. With new music pretty much on vacation until July 11, when Interpol, Justice and Spoon drop LPs like bombs in Afghanistan, it’s also the perfect time to look back on the best albums of the year thus far.

    I’m pushing for a big Britney Spears comeback. Really, I am. Get Timbaland and Polow Da Don to produce (first single: “Throw Some B’s”), have Justin Timberlake guest on a few tracks, put her on the cover of Rolling Stone again. She needs to sell another 10 million. Let’s make this thing happen.
